Fresh Perspectives

Wind and storms are great for a fresh perspective. That’s the weather we’ve been having in St. Louis. Of course, we live in Missouri, so the weather often changes a lot in one day. This also co be true in life.

We weather things that happen in our own lives. Everyone has storms that come. Inevitably though the rain passes, and the sun comes out again. It sounds cliché, but it is for a reason. It is a truth. There are natural cycles of life just like the weather. That’s also true for business and economic cycles as well.

When the wind blows, let it blow through and don’t try to hold onto it. It’s our attachment that creates more suffering and a lack of perspective to find the right solutions. You can keep your balance by grounding yourself. Feel your own solidity in the earth below your feet. Imagine the winds blowing through you like the leaves of a tree as you release and let go of attachment to the obstacles. Maybe even go outside, stand on the earth, and feel the wind. Close your eyes for a few moments and just breathe.

When there are so many things to do and so little time, that’s just a mantra that we repeat to ourselves. It can feel like a storm sometimes. But remember that the important things always get done, and that there will always be a to do list. Get the one or two priorities done (and so on). The rest will be there when you’re ready.

Last night I went out on the porch and let the wind blow through me. I was searching for the answers on a few things. I let go of my attachment to specific outcomes. I woke up with answers this morning and a fresh new perspective. (Even fresher for me because today’s my birthday!)

Let go of your story about the storms in your life or biz. Know that the next step or the solution (and even the ever evolving to do list!), will be there for you tomorrow. And you can look at it with a fresh perspective.
