Finding Inspiration

I find my inspiration from so many places, often from the little things, turtle steps and moments along the way. One thing that really inspires me is when I see the fruits of my labor, the pieces that I contributed along the way, as part of a dynamic team project. I love being part of a robust, collaborative effort and seeing it all come together.

For example, the moment of seeing a finished video from a gig on a critical public private partnership infrastructure project. The video was developed off of initial research I had done for the three months prior and our work as a team.  It is amazing to see how things start out, how it progresses and where they end up. I think the same can be said for any project, gig or effort in life.

It often starts with the mundane steps. Though “mundane” is a story we tell ourselves. In this example, I spent days upon days in historical archives (physically and online) doing project research. I found an amazing book and researched it as well. This brilliant video was created out of that research by a lot of smart, creative folks with which I had the privilege to work. It was one of those things where I couldn’t wait to see what happened next! Each moment was amazing, even the mundane moments because each moment was a part of this process. A great team is inspiring – it’s like magic.

This example of just one video project, as part of a much larger project, is a great reminder for life and for all things. Like building my business, being an entrepreneur or starting any dream. It first starts from the foundational work, the basics, consistent practice and dedication to showing up.

By showing up, day after day, the magic happens. You can have the magic when you do the work to allow it to happen. You take each step, each moment of inspiration and build on it for the next. Where do you find your inspiration? I would love to hear from you.
